College Planning

If everything you thought to be true about paying for college turned out not to be true, when would you want to know?

If you are like most parents, the answer is NOW!

In the past few years, there have been many developments that have turned the college planning process on its ear.  And, that’s a good thing for you as there are many opportunities for you to save potentially thousands.

It is never too early to start planning for college expenses. The ideal time to begin planning for college expenses is when your children are young.  With college expenses increasing at a rate of 5% each year, for many parents, the numbers just seem to be climbing out of reach more and more each year.

If you begin preparing for college expenses prior to your student getting into high school, you are on target and in rare company.  If you wait until the student enters high school, it simply makes it more difficult to accomplish all that is possible in reducing your college expenses.  Developing a plan and sticking with it will help the student get into the right college.  Getting into the right college is much more than simply filling out an application in the senior year of high school.  Families who use the appropriate short-term financial planning strategies during this time will be most successful.

If you are not completely familiar with the terms FAFSA and EFC, you will need to be.  We have specific knowledge about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) process and can help you understand what can be done to improve your EFC (Expected Family Contribution).  Your family’s EFC will affect your student’s ability to get financial aid.  This is where we come in.  We ask the right questions and assist you and your student in the college process.

We offer a free sixty-minute session with each family in order to determine if we can help you.  This sixty minute session proves very helpful for parents as we speak specifically about your individual situation and needs.
